How to specifyPolyimide & Specialty High-Temperature Tapes.
When do I need polyimide tape instead of PET tape?
Choose polyimide tape when your process exceeds roughly 204°C, or when you need a thinner, more precise mask for PCB pads, connectors or small electronic features. Polyimide tape is rated up to around 260°C.
What is glass-cloth tape used for?
Fiberglass cloth tape combines high-temperature resistance with mechanical durability, making it suitable for plasma masking and processes with abrasive or mechanically demanding conditions.
Is PTFE tape different from polyimide tape?
Yes. PTFE (skived film) tape offers excellent chemical and release properties for specialty processes, while polyimide is the standard choice for general high-heat electronics masking.
