How to specifyVent Plugs & Venting Caps.
What is a vent plug and when do I need one?
A vent plug looks like a standard masking plug but includes a small channel or porous path that lets trapped air or gas escape from a sealed cavity during oven bake or cure - without letting coating or plating fluid in.
How do I know if my part needs venting instead of a solid plug?
If the part has a sealed internal cavity that heats up during cure, trapped air expansion can cause bulging, blow-out, or push through wet coating as a defect. If you've seen these issues, a vent plug is worth testing.
Do vent plugs still protect against coating ingress?
Yes - the venting mechanism is a controlled path sized to let air or gas through while still blocking liquid or powder coating material from entering the cavity.
